8 Foods to Boost Your Metabolism

Obviously these are not all the foods that can increase your metabolism, but here are the top 8, or should I say, most frequent 8 foods that boost your metabolism. Listen to me, there is no "miracle food" that will burn off the pounds while you sit on your ass and eat. Without exercise, good night's sleep, a well thought-out meal plan, your metabolic rate is going to be WHACK. These foods, however, can kindly get the metabolism movin' and groovin'. Others include yogurt, cinnamon, tomatoes, turkey, and peppers. These are all good anyway, so why not add it to your diet. It could add more fuel to your fire! Burn those calories. BURN THEM!

Fish

You should already know all the health and fitness magazines, shows, and internet blogs tell you how important fish oils are, and the benefits of the omega-3 fatty acids, and blah blah. Truth is, fish like salmon, trout, sardines, tuna, and mackerel can boost your calorie burn as much as 400 calories a day. It's also an amazing muscle-building protein if you're tired of chicken and steak.

Dark Greens

Dark greens like spinach and kale are loaded with antioxidants which can help damaged muscles and even repair them. These green machines are high in iron, vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium. Fiber is also important in pooping easier. Dark leaves also have lots of B vitamins which produce necessary enzymes for metabolism This is especially good for vegetarians who need iron and need a supplement. It also has a lot less calories and, of course, fat free. Other greens include arugula, chard, and collard greens.

Green Tea / Coffee

Green tea can reduce sugar cravings and inhibit the enzymes that slow down digestion, which can ultimately raise metabolic rates. Green tea is also loaded with antioxidants and phlyphenoids, which make it an obvious choice. As for coffee, the caffeine in a single cup can raise your metabolism by up to 15%. Green tea also has caffeine and also EGCG.

Water

Every doctor in the world would recommend drinking, at least, 8 ounces of water everyday. If you can, drink cold, ice water, which can burn an extra 25 calories a glass. If you're under-hydrated  you'll never finish a WOD at full performance. Make sure you consumer enough water, or else you'll mistaken your body's cues of thirst for eating.

Fruits

All berries, grapefruit, apples, and all whole fruits contain lots of fiber. Your body burns more calories digesting the food than it stores, which we call "negative calories". A cup of blueberries is 80 calories and 4 grams of fiber. Apples have a low gylcemic index and high in fiber that keep you full longer. Grapefruit with every meal can boost your metabolism by containing vitamin C which reduces bodies' insulin levels and promote weight loss. All fruits are beneficial to your metabolism; these are just a few to name and show the benefits.

Beans & Lentils

These super foods are packed with fiber and have a low gylcemic index (awesome Blue Pill/Zone food). They are also good for you heart, contain potassium and reduce blood cholesterol while contain antioxidants AT THE SAME DAMN TIME AT THE SAME DAMN TIME!

Rolled Oats

This was also on all the sites I've checked out. Since this takes awhile for your body to break down, rolled oats are awesome for boosting your metabolism. These fat-soluble fiber foods can lower your insulin level and give you that boost in the morning. Eat it with fruit!

Almonds

These are my brother's favorite snack during the day and inbetween meals. These bad boys are blasted with GOOD fats, fiber, and protein. Although they have incomplete protein, when you put them together with yogurt or with your meals, they give your body all the nine essential amino acids. Dek's pre-workout meal is a protein shake a handful of these suckers.
